Reflexology

"Reflexology...was lovely. Very, very relaxing and just what I needed."
Hannah, September 2018

Reflexology is an ancient complementary therapy that was being used in India, China and Egypt over 5,000 years ago. It is based on the theory that there are reflex areas on the feet which correspond to different parts of the body. By having the body represented in this map on the foot, the method offers a means of treating the whole body and of treating the body as a whole. This latter point is an important factor in natural therapy, as it allows not only symptoms to be treated but also the causes of these symptoms.

According to reflexology theory, illness, stress, injury and disease all cause your body to enter a state of 'imbalance' and vital energy pathways become blocked. This prevents your body from functioning effectively. Reflexology is used to restore and maintain the body's natural equlibrium and encourage healing.

Reflexology

This gentle therapy encourages the body to heal itself, often counteracting a lifetime of misuse. A reflexologist uses their hands to apply pressure to certain areas of the feet, depending on the issues you wish to resolve. Sensitive, trained hands may detect imbalances in the feet, and by working on these points the reflexologist can release blockages and restore the free flow of energy to the whole body. For each person the application and effect of the therapy is unique. Tensions can be eased, and circulation and elimination may be improved.

Whilst reflexology may be used as a 'one off', best results are gained from a course of six.

Single session 45 minutes £30.00, subsequent sessions 30-45 minutes.

These treatments are not suitable for the following and may need a GP/midwife note in order to go ahead: pregnancy, operations/scar tissue within the last six months, infectious diseases, high blood pressure, diabetes, cancer, broken bones and inflammation in the treatment area. Reflexology is also not suitable if you are feeling unwell (as it is possible it will make you feel worse) or if you are receiving ongoing treatment from a GP/Consultant.

This session is started with a luxurious foot soak to keep you feeling relaxed and calm. Your toenails are then trimmed and filed to a suitable shape and the cuticles tidied before a relaxing reflexology session is performed. Please note, this is a slightly shorter session than a standalone reflexology session. Your nails are then polished with your chosen colour, so that you both look and feel pampered!
